How do you write an “about me” page without sounding like an arse? Well here goes.
I come from Airdrie, but live in Glasgow. Airdrieonians are my team.
I started in recruitment in 1987 (aged 21) with HMS, the largest network agency in the UK at the time. I joined Search Consultancy in 1990, when there were only around 8 staff. In 1993 I went into partnership with Bruce FitzGerald in Maxwell Bruce. From just the two of us in a single room, we grew the company rapidly to around 50 staff and 2,000 temps, assembling pc’s for IBM, and generating revenues of over £12m. In 1999 I launched Source Selection, a technical, sales and environmental recruitment agency.
After designing my first website for Source, I launched www.AlljobsUK.com in 2000 as the first comprehensive portal to every recruitment resource in the UK. In 2001, I devised and hosted the first National Online Recruitment Awards (NORAs). Having recently left the 1Job.co.uk family, to whom I’d sold Alljobs, I still run the NORAs, and have now launched PC Evaluate Ltd, which delivers fast effective, and accurate Personality Profiling to UK employers.
In June 2009, I developed and launched the UK’s most popular iPhone App for recruitment UK Jobs. UK Jobs was downloaded more than any other job search application in 2009. In November 2014, I will host the 14th annual NORAs.
