About Me

How do you write an "about me" page without sounding like an arse?  Here goes.

I come from Airdrie, but live in Glasgow.  Airdrie United are my team.

I started in recruitment in 1987 (aged 21) with HMS, the largest network agency in the UK at the time.  I joined Search Consultancy in 1990, when there was only around 8 staff.  In 1993 I went into partnership with Bruce FitzGerald in Maxwell Bruce.  From just the two of us, we grew the company rapidly to around 40 staff and 2,000 temps, assembling pc's for IBM, generating revenues of over £12m.  In 1999 I launched Source Selection, a technical, sales and environmental recruitment agency.

After designing my first website for Source, I launched www.AlljobsUK.com in 2000 as the first comprehensive portal to every recruitment resource in the UK.  In 2001, I devised and hosted the first National Online Recruitment Awards (NORAs). Now part of the 1Job.co.uk family, I still run Alljobs and the NORAs, and am responsible for sales & marketing for the UK's leading Job Search Engine.  In June 2009, I developed and launched the UK's most popular iPhone App for recruitment UK JobsUK Jobs was downloaded more than any other job search application in 2009.  In November 2010, I hosted the 10th anniversary NORAs, where Jobsite won the Recruitment Website of the Decade Award.
